About Us
Her story: Our story begins, quite fittingly, on a golf course. As we were both members of the Northwestern golf team, we first noticed each other on the putting green at Landsmeer, and early in our friendship, it seemed like a natural location to spend time together. During our first round together, the golf, at least on my part, was terrible, but the company was memorable to say the least. Since that time we've found out that while we are both quite fond of the game of golf, we also share a love for good conversation, Mexican food, residence life, road trips, family, eating ice cream out of a mixing bowl, Northwestern, scripture, each other, and most of all our Savior and serving God together. Almost two years after that first golf outing, Nate asked me to marry him while stargazing...on a golf course.
As cliché as it may be, he is the man of my dreams and the one I can't wait to spend my life with. While I still laugh that I had to move to northwest Iowa to meet a guy from 20 miles down the road, we have been richly blessed by God's plan, and I am excitedly anticipating the opportunity to continue sharing this blessing as husband and wife.
His story: Anne and I first noticed each other on the golf course, but our noticing became friendship in a Spanish class my senior year, her sophomore year, at Northwestern College. I began to cleverly speed through my end-of-class quizzes to conveniently turn mine in at the same time as Anne so we could walk to chapel together each day after class. We proved that Spanish is, indeed, a language of love, as our friendly studying turned into a round of golf, a coffee date, Bunco, meeting each other's family, stargazing, laughing together, crying together, praying together, trips to Orange City, trips to Des Moines, a trip to Washington, DC, a trip to the jewelry store, a question, and a “Yes, yes, absolutely yes!”
I am continually humbled by God’s grace and provision, and I can’t believe I get to take such a godly, intelligent, beautiful woman as my wife very soon. God tells us in Proverbs 18:22, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” I’m so blessed and so excited to start our life together!
